Click to enlarge image - 38KB High steer arms serve many purposes. The first is keeping your steering from being bent or smashed during off-road conditions. The second is achieving correct steering geometry, which affects drivability, turning radius and alignment. Available for heim joints or one ton tierod ends. Heim joint arms come drilled with three holes for adjustability; tierod arms comes with two tapered holes.

Why are Poison Spyder Customs arms the best?

Toughness - Heim Arms and Tie Rod Arms are built from 1 1/2" cold-rolled steel, powder coated, not raw, no enamel.
Quality - Parts are fully machined. Metal integrity is not compromised through less expensive cutting processes, like flame cutting or plasma cutting.
Design - Poison Spyder Customs arms are built with a twist. The twist locates the heim joints at a 7 degree deflection at static position. This prevents binding of the steering during flex, which is commonly found with the use of flat-milled arms that follow the stock angle of the knuckle. An additional feature is three locating holes. This allows the arm to be used with forwardly-stretched wheelbases, and gives a variety of turning radius options. The end of the arm is slightly contoured inward, thus allowing wider tire clearance. All arms are machined with round radiuses to prevent stress points that would be created through sharp angled breaks in form.

Poison Spyder Customs arms work with GM©, Ford©, and Jeep© flat-top knuckles.

The knuckles need to be drilled and tapped. Drill knuckles to 37/64" and tap with a 5/8" x 18 tap when used with Poison Spyder Customs Arms and hardware.

Poison Spyder Customs high steering arms have a unique keyway that interlocks the 7/8 inch spacer and the high angle arm. This minimizes sheer at the stud between the two connecting surfaces. This interlocking design is built into all Poison Spyder Customs arms.
Click to enlarge image - 16KB With the escalating difficulty of trails and use of bigger tires, failure of factory 9/16 steering components is common. Utilization of 5/8 inch studs over OEM 9/16 studs or bolts is a huge strength advantage in the prevention of a trail failure.

Stud kits include:
      3 - 5/8 inch studs
      3 - crush nuts
      3 - conical washers
Conical washers are custom machined and only available through Poison Spyder Customs.

For many leaf sprung vehicles, an additional 1” spacer may be required. This spacer is used when the arm alone does not allow proper clearance.

If only the drag link angle needs to be corrected, simply use only passenger side components.

Poison Spyder High Steer Arms were designed to use the one ton tie rod ends (TRE's) that are available separately. In most Jeep applications this one ton TRE will NOT work in the pitman arm. Poison Spyder offers a 22mm Jeep Style TRE that WILL work with most Jeep pitman arms. In this situation one would need to use a right hand one ton TRE on the lower end of the drag link and the Jeep style 22mm TRE on the upper end of the drag link.

Both the drag link and tie rod can be built three ways: right and left thread, right and right thread or left and left thread.

The right and left thread is used when ease of adjustment is important; the link does not need to be removed from the vehicle, simply loosen the jam nuts and adjust the link accordingly.

1 ton Tierod End- Righthand (7/8-18R) $48.95
1 ton Tierod End- Lefthand (7/8-18L) $48.95

$4.45
Jam Nut- Left Hand (7/8-18L) $4.45
Tube Insert- Right Hand (7/8-18R) $13.25

Tube Insert- Left Hand (7/8-18L)

Jeep 22mm Tierod end (left hand)- For use w/Jeep pitman arm $38.95

Jam Nut- Left hand (22mm) For Jeep TRE

$4.45
Tube Insert- Left Hand (22mm) For Jeep TRE $13.25

The right and right (as well as left and left respectively) thread combo is used when ease of adjustment is not as important and keeping the links from coming out of adjustment. With the same threads on each end of a link; if a trail obstacle hits the link and loosens it, it can not come out of adjustment. If you are running hydraulic steering, the ram will not be able to rotate the link. Bare in mind that this setup requires that one end will need to be unbolted to adjust the link.

What is the difference between heims and TRE's? Typically TRE's last longer than heims and are less maintenance (though they are more costly). The one ton TRE's that Poison Spyder uses have more misalignment than most heim joints. Heim joints have a tendency to be easier to work with and the height can be adjusted (with misalignment bushings).

In most steering applications the 1" spacer will not be necessary (as a general rule if your Jeep has less than 6" of lift you will not need the spacer). THIS IS A ROUGH GUIDELINE. Please contact a sales representative for further assistance on choosing a steering with or without the additional spacer.
